An Interesting Gender Reveal Party - Boy or Girl?
Just last month, I received a phone call from this lady called Hanisha in the midst of my photo editing. Hanisha called to check for my availability for her event on end December and she had planned a Gender Reveal Party.
A gender reveal party might not be commonly known or heard of but as its name suggests, it is a party held to reveal the gender of the baby. This was a first for me and truth to be told, I was a little worried that there might not be enough ‘moments’ at the event to be captured. Typical photos of guests crowding around the lovely baby, kissing the baby’s cheeks and selfies taking were out of the equation.
The big surprise (to me at least) came on the day itself when I realized that apart from their friends and family members even Hanisha and her husband had no clue about the gender of their baby. Hanisha mentioned that the report was sent directly to the balloon vendor, bypassing them.
It seems that the only way to know the gender is to pop this balloon.
I took the couple around their estate for a quick shoot. As we were shooting, I got them to tell each other what they love most about each other. I believe that was a great opportunity for them to remind each other about their love and celebrate how far they have came as lovers and soon to be parents.
Hugs and well wishes poured in from friends and families, some who came from overseas just for this joyous celebration.
Finally it was revelation time. Everyone took a guess by picking either a blue or pink baby motif. Party poppers were distributed as well for the grand revelation. Inside each of these poppers were also confettis of the same colour; either that of pink or blue representing the gender of the baby.
So in 3, 2 and 1…,
A beautiful stream of pink confetti came fluttering out and Hanisha burst into tears of joy while her husband laughed heartily at the great news.
Warm hugs came pouring in again, it was definitely an emotional moment for both Hanisha and her husband.
As I went through the photos of this particular event, I was just thankful to be entrusted with capturing important events like this.
